Codependency Therapy in San Diego, CA

Therapy for Codependency

You may be the person everyone turns to for support. You're thoughtful, dependable, and deeply caring. Others see you as capable and self-sufficient, yet much of your energy goes toward anticipating needs, managing relationships, avoiding disappointment, or keeping the peace.

Over time, this can become exhausting.

You may find yourself saying yes when you want to say no, feeling responsible for other people's emotions, struggling to ask for help, or losing touch with your own needs and desires. You may know how to care for everyone around you, yet feel surprisingly unsure of how to care for yourself.

Many of the people I work with don't identify with traditional stereotypes of codependency. They are successful, insightful, and highly functioning. They often appear confident on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to be everything for everyone.

In therapy, we'll explore the patterns that keep you stuck in over-responsibility, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-sacrifice. We'll work to understand where these patterns came from, how they may have helped you in the past, and what they are costing you today.

The goal isn't to become less caring. It's to develop relationships that feel more mutual, authentic, and sustainable. Together, we'll strengthen your ability to recognize your own needs, set boundaries with greater confidence, and build relationships that don't require you to abandon yourself in order to maintain connection.

If you're tired of constantly managing, accommodating, fixing, or carrying more than your share, therapy can help you create a different way of relating to yourself and the people you love.
